WIESENMARKT Bleiburg is a small city in the south of Austria. At the annual fairground, there is an old tradition to play lawn skittles. And to drink beer. People play it the whole night, making bets for small and big money and sometimes for their farming houses they say.
This film is inspired by the paintings from the famous Austrian artist Werner Berg, who painted this scenery 60 years ago. WIESENMARKT is more of a sketch work than a final film. Shot with an old Bolex Camera and two rolls of 16mm film material - three minutes each - its main goal was to find and conserve the mood and the different characters of this game. And to drink a beer or two. |
